Time to order Community Service Rockers!

As leaders, you are probably aware, that we encourage all troops to have a triangular Lafayette patch and add a service rocker each year as they participate in, and complete, service projects.

The patch costs $2.50 and is available year round.

The rocker costs $1.75. They are ordered once a year in March and are usually delivered to the troop 4-6 weeks after the order is made.

In order for girls to earn a community service rocker they must complete 2 out of 3 service project categories:
  • Service to the environment or outdoors: this has included projects such as trash pickup/clearing the Lafayette creeks/distributing CFL light bulbs/ making owl cages.
  • Service to a community or world of people: previous projects have included packing holiday boxes for troops posted overseas/making dog biscuits for an animal shelter/carol singing at a care facility/assembling gift bags for foster parents.
  • Service to Girl Scouts, meeting place or leader: activities included mentoring a Brownie troop camping trip/helping run a booth at the Girl Scout Service Unit’s World Thinking Day event/writing thank you letters to parents who ran the cookie program for 2 years.

For further ideas on community service projects check the Community Service tab.
