- Thank U Berry Munch - our newest flavor (transfat free and my family gives the cranberries and white chocolate unanimous thumbs up!)
- Transfat free - Since day 1 of my tenure as CEO, members have been asking when the cookie bakers will get transfats out of the cookies. All cookies have zero grams of transfats - but under FDA labeling guidelines, that means they have less than .5 grams per serving. This year, 4 of the 8 varieties are entirely transfat free - Trefoils, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Dulce de Leche, and Thank U Berry Munch.
- Why the cookie sale is important for our Council - The cookie sale generates just over 50% of the revenue required to keep the Council's operations going. What are those operations? The biggest costs are staff and properties. The Council employs 124 full time staff and operates 32 different properties - including program centers, offices, shops and camps. During the 2009 fiscal year, we spent 76% of Council revenue was spent on direct services to members, including programs, camp, adult development and support to service units. The balance supported the Council's administrative costs. We made some hard choices in the face of revenue declines during 2009 and reduced the Council's operating budget by 20%. A strong cookie sale, together with other fund raising activities, will help the Council avoid further cuts.
