What are Girl Scout Destinations?
Destinations are events and trips for registered girl scouts ages 11-17. (You may know these under their old name, “Wider Opportunities.”) Each year there are many to choose from, around the corner or around the globe. There are adventures in the outdoors, opportunities to provide service, or try out a potential career field. Girls can learn new skills, see new places, or just experience another culture. Trips are available in the United States and at international sites. There are also short trips/events that whole troops can participate in together.

Where can I find out about Destinations?
General information and information about specific trips or events are listed on the Girl Scout Studio 2B website. Just click on Girls above, then click on Studio 2B, then click on Escape. Or, just click here for a direct link to Studio 2B Destinations. Information for the following year is generally available by September.

How can I apply to go on a Destination?
Girls will need to complete an application form, downloadable from the Studio 2B website, that will include references. Applications for trips for the following year are due to the Girl Scouts of San Francisco Bay Council office no later than November 1.

Are Destination trips expensive?
Trips vary in cost, and girls must pay their own airfare. Many trips are much less expensive through Destinations than they would be for a girl on her own; check the Studio 2B website for individual trip costs. Scholarships are available through GSUSA, and the Lafayette Association has some funds to help girls with their costs.
